The 25-year-old singer has narrowly missed winning the Best British Breakthrough Act at the BRIT awards tonight (Wednesday 22). She lost against edgy singer Rag'n'Bone Man.
Although the singer from Essex didn't win the award, speaking to the Evening Standard she felt like she did: "“In the British Breakthrough Act I’m the only girl nominated so I already feel like I’ve won a little bit, I’m halfway there already,” The Alarm singer was up against Stormzy, Skepta and Blossom who are all talented male artists.
Even though Anne-Marie did not win the award, rumours suggested that she would as she had a hit song with pop sensations Clean Bandit. She featured on the hit song Rock-a-bye which was number on on the UK Top 40 for nine weeks, one of the weeks consisted of being the Christmas number one.
She was also nominated for the Critic's Choice award tonight but lost to Rag'n'Bone man again. Her other competitor was singer songwriter and model Dua Lipa.
Although she didn't win any of her nominations, she is not disheartened. She has recently released a new song called Ciao Adios before her new album drops. Continuing her chat with the Evening Standard, she said: "It's definitely this year and more towards Summer and Autumn. I haven't got a date yet but it's all ready. I just need to release a few more songs." So far we know Alarm and the latest Ciao Adios will be featured but are not sure what else is to come.
She has mentioned that Ciao Adios is about her recent Ex and doesn't care if they know the song is about them as she is never going to speak to them again. Have a listen below.
